Congratulations – To our eighth graders for the wonderful results they received from the Catholic High Schools. Sixty-four out of sixty-nine students made their first choice of high schools and sixty-two out of sixty-three made at least one of their choices. Also, eleven of our eighth grade students were offered either a partial or full scholarship to one or more Catholic High Schools. The scholarship money offered to our students totals $207,116.00. We cannot tell you how proud we are of our students and all of the teachers who played a part in their education.
Tuition Raffle – Congratulations to the Ferretti Family (2-1) for winning the February Tuition Raffle.
Candy Drive – Once again, our annual candy drive was a huge success. Thank you for your participation. If you have not sent in your money from the candy drive, please do so immediately so we can close the books on it.
ITBS Testing – Students in Grades 1-8 will be taking their ITBS tests from March 12th through March 23rd. Although most classes will not need two weeks to complete the testing, it has to be spread out due to the fact that New York State decided to move the math testing for grades 4 and 8 to these two weeks. Please encourage your child/ren to get plenty of sleep the night before a test and to eat a good breakfast the day of a test. In this way we help to make sure that the children are physically and mentally ready to sit and to their best on the tests. Also, please make sure that your child/ren have at least two (2) sharpened #2 pencils with them each day.
New York State Math Testing – Grade 4 will be taking the NYS Math Test on March 6th, 7th, and 8th. Grade 8 will be taking the NYS Math Test on March 13h and 14th. Please keep them in your prayers on these days.
Bread of Life Food Drive – Once again, we will be collecting food for the Notre Dame Club’s Bread of Life Food Drive. Food collected will be sent to various food pantries on Staten Island. The drive will take place from Monday, March 19th until Thursday, March 22nd. Anything you can donate will be greatly appreciated.
Wearing of the Green – On Friday, March 16, 2007, we invite the children to wear either a green sweater or green sweatshirt with their uniform to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. St. Patrick is the patron saint of the Archdiocese of New York. The children will also be permitted to wear buttons, hats, etc. on this day.
Box Tops For Education – Please continue to send in your big “G” box tops. This is a great little fundraiser for the school! Thank you Mrs. Jeanette Salcido for doing such a
”great” job in mailing the box tops to General Mills for us.
Important Reminders – We are asking you again not to send your child/ren to school when they are sick. They are infecting the other students as well as the faculty and staff.
Also, There is NO parking or standing on Windsor Road at arrival and dismissal.
This is causing a major traffic jam and most of all an unsafe situation for all.
