In 2008, the Holy Name Society of St. Teresa’s Parish, the Cub Scouts of Pack #37 and Boy Scouts of Troop #37 formed an alliance to initiate a fundraising event for the boys involved in the scouting programs. Together, they began to put together a Classic Car Show to be held in the school parking lot to showcase classic automobiles from the Ford Model T to any variety of cars 25 years and older. This fundraiser proved to be a very successful event and a lot of fun for all involved.
One year later, in 2009, the three groups held their second annual event with over 95 cars, vendor tables, food, raffles and door prizes, while the classic car owners competed for various trophies in their respective categories. All proceeds went toward the two scouting programs. An added attraction was a guest appearance from K.I.T.T. , the original Knight Rider car.
Here, in 2010, the newly formed St. Teresa’s Car Show Committee, which is comprised of the members of the same three original organizations, is preparing for their 3rd Annual Car Show to benefit the Cub Scouts of Pack #37, the Boy Scouts of Troop #37, and St. Teresa’s food pantry that supports those less fortunate in the parish, and beyond. As in the past two years, we expect to have over 450 spectators coming through our gates to see close to 100 classic automobiles compete for trophies.
